Magistrates Bench Diversity – Recruitment Criminal justice has among the lowest proportion of senior staff from black and minority ethnic backgrounds. Current research reveals that in the Avon and Somerset Magistracy we currently have  a severe under representation of BAME Magistrates and Magistrates from working class backgrounds, in direct relationship to the populations that we are serving. Adoption or Fostering is this for You

A survey conducted by Children’s Charity Barnardo’s highlighted in 2015 there were 90,000 children who are being fostered in the UK, 14,400 of this total are young people who are from the black, mixed race and ethnic minority communities. The report identifies a real shortage of foster carers needed to come forward from these groups. But surely a loving home is enough without needing to match young people to the right ethnicity or is?
